I come from winegrower ancestors in the Ardèche region and during my childhood I helped my parents make cider from our orchard and bottle some wines.
I decided then that one day I would make my own wine !
After some years, including five living in London at different ages, I became an engineer and life passed, with my charming wife and three lovely daughters.
I have all along been searching for a place to settle the family and raise my own wine.
I went 18 months to the Lycée Agricole of Montreuil-Bellay to pass my winemaker degree, and I was lucky to find this wonderful place of CHEMAN.
The estate was run by a cooperative farmer, no wines were made at the Chateau, and we had to wait 5 years to take over the wineyard, thanks to the farmer goodwill.
So CHEMAN is a complete start-up again since 2021, after more than 800 years of wine history !
We started the organic conversion from scratch, and are now certified.
We raise all our wines in oak barrels and foudres, without any adding or filtering, to keep the pure taste of our wonderful terroir.
Hoping to see you here one day : we would be delighted to share with you the result of our hard work !
Our team is a fantastic mixture of employees, family and friends, for the harvest and our open doors events.
