Ancient Lordship of XIII century, the Château de Cheman has many traces of a very ancient past, including a dolmen from this region rich in megaliths. Redesigned in the 16th and 17th centuries, it has gone through history to the delight of visitors and passing guests.

This very special place has a calming "feelgood" effect upon arrival, and the vines have felt at home there for centuries.

The Estate

Nested in the middle of its valley, facing the river Loire, the Château de Cheman location is 17 hectares of vines in one piece around the chateau, on the two terroirs of Anjou, in two facing coteaux : limestone facing south-west, greystone shales facing north-east.

This very special situation, at the limit of the Bassin Parisien and Massif Armoricain, is unique in Anjou for a small estate of one single piece. It makes Cheman an exceptional place for growing different great wines of terroir.
